The Top 5 Things you need when traveling International
Embarking on an international adventure is an exhilarating experience filled with anticipation and excitement. However, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable journey requires careful preparation and packing of essential items. From travel documents to personal necessities, having the right gear can make all the difference between a stress-free trip and unexpected hiccups along the way. Let’s delve into the key things you need to have in your arsenal when traveling internationally.

An International E-SIM
When travelling, solo or otherwise, being able to get in touch with those that worry about you is the most important thing. Before going away on my trips, I always ensure I’ve downloaded an e-sim for the country I’m traveling to so that once I arrive I’m able to get straight onto the web and let everyone know I’m safe. It is also the best for organising travel like Ubers, and getting directions up to find where you can head off to next.
My go to app is Airalo. It’s a super easy process, and all you need to do is download the app, select the e-sim appropriate for the country you’re traveling to, pick how many days is appropriate for your trip, and then pay and add to your phone! Super simple and quick, and is the best way to quickly tick off a super worrying part of traveling.
You can use my promocode Rachel0676 save $3 off of first purchase, full transparency I also get a $3 credit but Ill be using this service whether you use it or not!

Luggage Location System
Airtags are quite possibly one of the best inventions in recent years.
Having airtags in your luggage is super important, because if you’re flying an international flight that has multiple carriers attached to it, for example sometimes american and british airlines will co-share airline flights, then your luggage get’s lost in Heathrow, and neither airline can find it, at least you can pin point where exactly it got lost and what airport. Sometimes the baggage systems don’t always state where your luggage got lost, and sometimes it helps if you accidentally leave your luggage somewhere – you can always find it!
You can buy airtags on Amazon (linked) – just make sure you also change the battery out once a year!
A Packing system
As a person who highly believes in organization while they travel, I used to be the biggest fan of the vacuum sealed packs, but recently I have been converted to the packing cubes – even if they have extra material and can appear a little bulky – they aren’t!
I love the compression that the vacuum sealed bags have, but they don’t offer me as much organization as the cubes. I hate packing, it’s one of the worst parts of traveling, but packing cubes keep all of my stuff separate; for example, I can have one cube for my shoes, one for my toiletries that won’t fit into my usual toiletry bag, and then others of various sizes for my different outfit requirements.
If you aren’t sure which ones to get and you have a larger bag, I definitely recommend using packing cubes to start and if you find them not all that useful, then you can just switch over to the vacuum sealed bags.

Hidden Emergency Funds
Having a hidden emergency fund is so important, and it is also important to hide a credit card somewhere in your luggage, that way if your purse get’s stolen or lost, then you at least have some back up funds to get you at least back to the airport or get you somewhere safe where you can figure out your next move. If you don’t have all of your stuff in one place, you have back up money that’ll keep you going until you can handle the emergency of having lost your wallet.
I highly believe in this as I once lost my wallet in the summer of 2022 in the back of an uber in Paris, and it took me two whole weeks to get my wallet back. Thankfully, I had a back-up credit card and some cash until I could get situated again. It literally saved my life while I was travelling through Switzerland.
Travel Insurance
Look, I get it, we all hate insurance, but having travel insurance is so important. It will protect you against so many different situations, and will offer you security when travelling in countries with different health-care systems. I would especially recommend it if you travel a lot. You really should check out having a yearly travel plan, I personally love Travel Guard by AIG Yearly plan, and is the one I recommend to many of the girls who come on numerous trips with me. It just keeps every secure and together, and it’s one less thing to worry about / pay out for prior to your trip starting.
As someone that has hosted 100+ girls trips over the last 4-5 years, I can tell you that dealing with Trawick & Travel Guard are the best experiences when it comes to submitting claims. They have never given us kick back issues like some other major travel insurance companies have.
Power Bank For Phone
Having power when you travel is essential, especially to avoid all of those must-capture moments that all of the best adventures have! I have recently fallen in love with having a power bank that has a cord already attached to it, so that i don’t have to pull out my cords mid trip, or having to search for one in the middle of a packed airport. I love being able to just reach for my bank and finding everything is pre-attached and ready for use!
In this day and age, who wants to be attached to the very specific seats at the airport that give you power, or hopefully find one little power bank stand in the middle of an airport where everyone is hoovering around you waiting for a sign that you’re about to leave so they can jump into your spot. It’s uncomfortable and feels like a whole lot of unnecessary pressure when you just want to relax! Buy yourself a solid 20KHMAH power bank and keep it charged through all your travels – never lose the power to keep everything going!
