I visit Vegas about 3-4 times a year. It is one of my favorite cities not just because it’s a fun city but also because of its proximity to all the amazing hiking in Utah & Nevada. If your goal is to make the most of your time in Vegas, here are my Top 10 things to do in Vegas.
Before we get into it, if you’re on a budget or just like a good deal on things I recommend always checking Groupon & Travel Zoo before any trip to Vegas. I honestly check them for any trip I’m planning. Not only do they help me save money on things in the area I also find things I didn’t know existed. Vegas is known for the drinking and gambling but there are a ton of other really cool thins to do in the city.
How to get to & Get around in Vegas
Flying to Vegas? If you haven’t bought your flights yet I highly recommend checking the prices and setting flight alerts on Kayak – its my favorite tool for researching flights. They even have an option to tell you the best days to fly if you haven’t picked your dates yet!
If you plan to drive around Vegas or aren’t sure how to get around – I highly recommend reserving a rental car in Vegas. You get off the strip and get to experience things like the magic mountains, the food in China Town and could even take a trip to the Grand Canyon too.
1| VISIT A NIGHT CLUB OR BEACH CLUB
Go to a night club or beach club for an amazing day or night of dancing. If you’re not trying to spend thousands on a table I have a really smart plan I do often for you to have a great night but not spend thousands on drinks. I put myself on the guest list which means I arrive around 11pm but before going to the club we get on the High Roller..which leads me to my next point!
2 | RIDE THE HIGH ROLLER IN VEGAS
Go on the High roller! The highroller is the huge ferris wheel on the Linq Promenade which offers a fantastic view of the entire strip. If you’re drinking, I highly recommend doing the bar car. This is on my list of favorite things to do in Vegas because I literally go EVERY Time! You have 30 minutes and if you tip the bartender in your car pretty well they make very strong drinks and they’ll start doing shots after you reach the top! I skip the heavy fruit juices and end up with a great buzz then hop in a Uber and hit the club. Just make sure you know your limit so you don’t get so drunk you don’t make it to the club!
3| GO ON A HIKE
Take a day hike! There are some insane places within a short car ride from the strip in Vegas. My favorites are Red Rock, Valley of Fire State Park, and Zion is only 2.5 hours away.
4| MUSEUMS
Visit a Museum in Vegas! Vegas is home to some amazing Museums including the Mob Museum, The Neon Museum, and Zak Bagans Haunted Museum.
5| LAS VEGAS SIGN
Were you even in Vegas if you didnt stop at the Las Vegas Sign? It is on the south end of the strip past Mandalay Bay. You can walk but I dont recommend it in the summer heat. Its a short bus or uber ride. They have parking too, if you have a rental car. Photos are free but there is always a local trying to take photos for people in exchange for tips. You can take them up on it or just take your own photos.
6 | JUMP OFF A BUILDING
Ever wanted to go bungee jumping? You can do that in Vegas! The stratosphere hotel has a ton of rides at the top of it but the coolest thing to me is The Sky Jump. Its definitely not for the faint of heart but extremely fun if you’re into heart pounding activities.
7 | MAGIC MOUNTAINS
7 magic mountains is an iconic artwork piece made up of 35 large boulders and easily on my list of top 10 things to do in Vegas, especially if its your first visit. It was installed on BLM land about 35 minutes from the strip. It is permitted until 2022 but I have a feeling it’ll be there for a long time. Just for the art appreciation its a really cool thing to see but also a great place for Instagram photos.
8 | ZIP LINING
Whether you go downtown or to the Linq, there are two ziplining areas in Vegas. I personally prefer the layingdown superman one downtown. Its a fun experience and sometimes I find discounts for them on Groupon too.
9 | EIFFLE TOWER
As you walk down the street you might wonder how to see the strip from above. The high roller is great but I love the Eiffel tower as well since its center strip with views to both ends. Tickets are fairly cheap and I always find deals for them on Groupon too. It can get a bit cold and windy up there so keep that in mind.
10 | FREE STUFF IS AMAZiNG
Do the free things! Last but not least one of my Top 10 things to do in Vegas is all the free stuff. Go watch the Bellagio Fountains, Visit the Bellagio Conservatory, see the Flamingos in the Flamingo Habitat at The flamingo hotel, see the gondolas or the volcano explode at the Mirage.
