Overview

From Cairo to Luxor to Aswan & an optional nice beach vacation in Hurghada – we’re going on an adventure in Egypt! This trip to Egypt is hosted by Rachel and fully guided by a local tour guide that makes sure we navigate all the local markets & cities with ease, making it a relaxing adventurous trip for everyone.
Everything included is listed on the Inclusions tab. All accommodations are included as well – so rest assured that everything will be designed specifically for our group and full of comforts to make you relax after a long day. Air-conditioned vehicles are used throughout the trip. The felucca sailing trip is one of the favorite days for most people that experience it!

Mizo is our local tour guide that not only has 20 years of experience as a tour guide in Egypt but also has a PhD in Ancient Egyptian Archelogy. If theres a question about Egypt that you have – he knows the answer. Rachel and Mizo have been working together since 2022 on the first trip and havent looked back.

Welcome to Egypt, get ready for an amazing week!
Settle into our first hotel along the Nile river, then get ready for your first experience in Egypt! Tonight, we’ll head out to explore a local famous bazaar and have a group dinner on one of our favorite rooftops to celebrate a fun week ahead.
2-3 airport transfers will be provided between 8 AM and 4 PM today. The earlier you arrive, the more you can do today. There are several extra things in Cairo we can recommend and even plan as a group!
Want to arrive a day early to see more of Cairo? Rachel can help with any accommodations needed plus make recommendations for anything in Cairo you want to do from sky diving to extra museums to see even more history and mummies if you want!

Overnight in Cairo

Today, after breakfast, we will begin our fun week by visiting the Great Pyramid Complex and Sphinx.
We will walk & take the bus around the complex to explore the different pyramids as well as take a camel ride. Today will be one of the highlights of the trip as we take in one of the most magical wonders of the world together. Pictures cannot do these places justice! But make sure you bring your cameras for some epic shots!
In the afternoon, we will stop for lunch and then head to newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum. Thousands of pieces of history and of course King Tuts Collection – all for us to walk through and explore with our local tour guide explaining the best parts along the way.
Tonight we will experience something incredible – the overnight sleeper train! After freshening up at the hotel, you will head down to board the train and experience something unique and useful. Feel free to bring some snacks for the journey, and get a good night’s sleep onboard – although, wouldn’t it be something to see a sunrise onboard a moving train?

Once we’re in Aswan, we’ll check into our hotel then take a short boat ride to the famous Philae Temple! If you want to relax by the pool at the hotel and enjoy the views of the nile – thats totally an option too. We strongly recommend everyone join us at Philae Temple, a temple that was previously underwater and moved!
Philae Temple Complex is a short distance from our hotel that was built on an island. It’s one of the iconic spots to visit in Aswan! We will take a short boat to the island and then spend a few hours exploring the complex.
For those interested, we will have the opportunity to stop at a famous and authentic essence shop in the afternoon! Aswan is a worldwide well-known place for essence, and this shop is a must-visit for those curious about traditional Egyptian scents and oils.

Today is a free day to relax and enjoy the beautiful city of Aswan. You can spend the morning resting at the hotel or soaking in the serene views of the Nile. We ALWAY recommend everyone joining us at Abu Simbel instead though!
Optional: For those interested, you’ll have the option to join a visit to the epic Temple of Abu Simbel!  This early morning excursion takes you to one of the most magnificent temples in Egypt & we highly recommend everyone join! The two Temples of Abu Simbel are as massive as the pyramids in Cairo and with their unique style are considered masterpieces of ancient Egyptian architecture.
In the afternoon everyone will have the option to swim at the hotel pool, take in the views of the Nile or join us at the Old Cataract Hotel for afternoon high tea – the inspiration of the famous 1937 book by Agatha Christie “Death on the Nile”. This can be decided upon later on closer to the trip!
In the evening, we’ll head across the Nile River to a local Nubian village for a traditional Nubian dinner. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local culture, meet some of the friendliest people in Egypt, and enjoy a meal prepared just for us.

Overnight in Aswan

This morning you will have some free time to collect yourself, sleep in & and grab any snacks/delicious drinks you may need for our next adventure: A Felucca journey down the Nile!
This afternoon you will get to watch Egyptian life pass you by, soak up some sunshine on the top deck of the Sail Boat and then spend a night under the beautiful stars – seeing stars away from light pollution is a beautiful sight. Our Nubian sailing crew will prepare all meals for you on our journey, served in a beautiful communal space and yes its prepared with clean bottled water. Tonight we will enjoy the sunset docked along the bank of the Nile River with dinner and maybe even a bon fire too.

Overnight On Felucca

Rise & Shine! This morning, we’ll enjoy one more meal onboard our felucca before saying goodbye to the Nile and heading toward Luxor.
Along the road we will stop at one of Rachels favorite temples and a must see – Esna Temple
Once we arrive in Luxor, we’ll have time to shower and reset before we head out to visit the breathtaking Karnak Temple Complex, one of the most iconic sites in all of Egypt. The sprawling complex is known for its massive columns and intricate carvings, making it an unmissable highlight of the trip.
After exploring Karnack Temple you’ll have the option to shop for souvenirs at the local market and a local Egyptian silver shop. Tonight is the time to get all the souvenirs to bring back home for yourself or friends and family.

Overnight in Luxor

Today is packed with unforgettable experiences!
Early risers will have the opportunity to take an optional hot air balloon ride, which offers breathtaking views of Luxor and the surrounding desert.
Afterward, we’ll head to the west bank of Luxor, passing by the Colossi of Memnon on our way to the Valley of the Kings. Here, you’ll explore three intricately decorated tombs (main ticket) and immerse yourself in the grandeur of ancient Egyptian royalty. You’ll have the option to visit King Tut’s tomb where his mummy is currently housed as well.
We will visit Queen Hatspheptut Temple – the queen who became a pharoh and one of the masterpieces of ancient architechure in Luxor.
Following Queen Hatspheptut, we’ll enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch at a local house – a perfect way to connect with Egyptian culture and flavors.
In the Evening we’ll take time to relax, shop or you could even visit Luxor Temple in the middle of the city too!

This morning we will fly back to Cairo after breakfast. We will drop our luggage at the hotel then and you’ll have the option to join us at Saqqara and Dashur or take a day and relax at the hotel for the final full day in Egypt.
You’ve heard of the Giza Pyramids but what about the Pyramids of Dashur and Saqqara? Saqqara is the oldest pyramid built in the first method ever and the Bent Pyramid is one of the most challenging but rewarding pyramids to climb through. We will visit both of those today!
In the evening we will get together for a farewell dinner at an area of Cairo most don’t see their first visit “New Cairo” – also where Rachel calls home so it’ll be a very special end to the week at one of her favorite restaurants.

Today is the last day of the main part of the trip. If you are leaving today you can depart at ANY time. We are staying super close to the Cairo International Airport at a hotel with airport transportation so even if you want to schedule a 2am flight today – thats okay too!
Optional: For those staying the extra days we will trade the Nile River for the Red Sea! We will take a short flight to Hurghada and immediately hop on a private boat to enjoy the sea for the day. Snorkeling, Swimming, Stunning beaches and a delicious lunch onboard too! Certified as a scuba diver? Or maybe you’ve wanted to try scuba diving? You can even do either from our boat today!

Today we have as much free time as we want. Whether its relaxing at the amazing sea side hotel, exploring the Hurghada Marina, or going out on a city tour with our tour guide Mizo. Or honestly all 3 if you want! We will have a nice flexible last relaxing day to soak in all the sun and enjoy some amazing weather.

Today is officially your last day in Egypt!
After breakfast you can enjoy some more time at the sea before flying back to Cairo. There are many options of flights from Hurghada – you could even fly internationally back to Europe from the Hurghada airport instead of flying back to Cairo instead. We can discuss all the options in the group chat before the trip!

FAQs - READ ME
Once the trip hits its minimum number of guests it is confirmed, and at that point the $500 deposit becomes non-refundable. We pay non-refundable deposits to our local operators to lock everything in. If the trip doesn’t reach the minimum and gets cancelled, you receive a full refund.
If you cancel more than 60 days before the trip, your deposit is non-refundable but anything paid beyond it can be refunded minus a small $100 admin fee.Â
The trip is 100% non-refundable within 60 days of departure. This is why travel insurance is required.
No, international flights are not included. Fly into Cairo International Airport (CAI) for April 3rd, 2027. Fly home out of Cairo (CAI) on April 11th, 2027.
Note: there is a included domestic flight from Luxor to Cairo on Day 8 — you do not need to arrange this yourself.
Most nationalities can purchase an Egyptian visa on arrival at Cairo Airport for $30 USD cash. Check your country’s specific requirements before travel. Rachel recommends having the cash ready before you land.
Yes, travel insurance is required for this trip. Given the distance, the non-refundable deposit structure, and the activities involved, you want to be covered if something comes up. Get your quotes early — they’re usually pretty reasonable.
The average age on most trips is 25-39 but don’t let that discourage you. All Ages are welcome! Come with an open mind, be ready to travel with a fun mixed-age group, and be prepared to actually move. These trips are high energy and fast paced. We’re out seeing the world, not sitting by the pool everyday!
Base price is double occupancy (two beds per room). If you don’t sign up with a roommate, we will match you with one. We send out a roommate survey before the trip and pair people up as best we can. Single rooms are available but limited, add it when booking the trip via the email we send you after confirmation.Â
*Note: the night on the felucca is 1 large shared boat for the whole group, no single room option on that night.
A lot of meals are included on this trip – see the itinerary day by day. Rachel & Our tour guide know all the best local spots and the food in Egypt is incredible. If you have dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, allergies) let us know ahead of time and everything can be accommodated.
After Day 9 (the main trip ends in Cairo), you have the option to come with us to Hurghada on the Red Sea for a few extra days. Hurghada is a completely different side of Egypt! From beaches, to snorkeling, boats, and relaxation after a week of history and culture.
The optional Hurghada extension includes a boat trip to an island with clear blue water and white sand, snorkeling at some of the best reefs in the world, a buffet lunch, and transfers. You can add the extension to Hurghada after check out – check your email, we will send you an email with all the optional upgrades you can add.Â
