Get ready for one of the most epic experiences ever! Ancient wonders, infinite deserts and the mighty Nile, Egypt can seem like it’s from another place in time. We’re going to explore Pyramids, see the Sphinx upclose, sail down the Nile River, ride a camel in the desert, and visit some awe inspiring iconic pieces of history. We’ll see iconic open air temples and marvel at tombs that go on for days. This is one you wont want to miss.

Overview

From Cairo to Luxor to Aswan – we’re going on an adventure in Egypt! This trip to Egypt is fully guided by a tour leader that makes sure we navigate all the local markets & cities with ease, making it a relaxing adventurous trip for everyone  Everything included is listed on the Inclusions tab. All accommodations are included as well – 6 nights in a hotel, 1 night on a felucca & 1 night on 1st class sleeper train. Air-conditioned vehicles are used throughout the trip.The felucca sailing trip is one of the favorite days for most people that experience it!

Nov 5th :
Day 1

 

Welcome to Egypt, get ready for an amazing week!

Settle into the hotel then get ready for your first experience in Egypt! Tonight we’ll head out to explore a local famous bazaar & have a group dinner to celebrate a fun week ahead.

3 airport transfers will be provided between 9am and 5pm today

Overnight in Cairo

Nov 6th :
Day 2

Today after breakfast we’re off to explore Egypt – we’ll start at the vast ancient burial ground of Saqqara to explore the outer pyramids. We will visit the Pyramid of Zoser, the oldest step pyramid known in history & finish off our first day wakling through history with a visit to the first capital of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, Memphis.

Nov 7th :
Day 3

Today we’re off to the Pyramids of Giza complex and Sphinx! You’ll be able to ride on a camel and take photos with the iconic pyramids in the background.

Lunch is at your leisure today.

In the afternoon we’ll visit the Egyptian Museum! The Egyptian Museum is by far one of the worlds greatest museums. The perfect place to start our tour of Egypt as it houses an amazing collection of antiquities & Egyptian treasures.

In the evening, you will board the 1st class sleeper train for a train journey to the Nubian city of Aswan.

Nov 8th :
Day 4

Welcome to Aswan, Egypts southernmost city! Upon arrival to Aswan we’ll be transferred to the hotel to relax.

Optional: Visit the Philae Temple, High Dam & Unfinished Obelisk

This evening we’ll experience modern Nubian culture firsthand. We’ll go across the Nile river and visit a nearby village. Bring an appetite because you are about to try some delicious Nubian dishes and get to know the welcoming Nubian hosts.

Nov 9th - Free Day :
Day 5

Today is a free day! Relax by the pool, go explore Aswan on your own or join Rachel on a trek to Abu Simbel!

Optional Abu Simbel Trip: Discover a part of Egypt that most first-time visitors miss! We’ll wake up early and go on a private day trip to the Abu Simbel temples. The two Temples of Abu Simbel, with their unique style, are considered to be the masterpieces of ancient Egypt. They reflect the glory and grandeur of the new Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO decided to co-operate in order to save these temples from the flood.

Overnight in Aswan

Nov 10th - Sailing down the Nile! :
Day 6

Relax at the hotel or by the pool this morning and get ready to board the felucca in the late morning. We’ll spend the afternoon sailing down the river, watching rural Egyptican daily life, and spend the night under the stars. Delicious meals will be provided on board the boat by the crew. We’ll enjoy sunset on the Nile – this part of the trip is a highlight for most people!

Overnight on a Felucca 

Nov 11th - Karnak Temple :
Day 7

Rise & Shine – we’ll enjoy one more meal onboard our boat then leave our felucca on the Nile and head towards Luxor!  Once in Luxor we’ll visit the open air museum Karnak Temple. This is one of the worlds most celebrated temple complexes. Karnak is a house of the gods built over a period of 200 years. Some of these piece you witness are over 2000 years ago!

Nov 12th - Valley of the Kings :
Day 8

Today we’ll start at the Colossi of Memnon, two huge 17-M high statues towering over Luxors west bank. Afterwards we’ll head to Valley of the Kings. Buried under these hills are insanely richly decorated tombs we can explore! You may find yourself stuck just staring, trying to figure out how they are so intricately designed! This is certain to be a highlight of the trip. Discoveries are still being made this day in these tombs.

After walking through the tombs of Valley of the kings we’ll go a short distance to a local house and enjoy an amazing home cooked meal.

This afternoon we’ll hop on a flight and head back to Cairo

Optional: We can go on a hot air balloon at sunrise today! We’ll book this later so you have time to decide if you want to join us or not.

Nov 13th - Last day in Egypt :
Day 9

Our time in Egypt ends today. Its not good bye, its cya next time! After breakfast our included transportation will take us back to the Cairo Airport.

There will be 2 shuttles provided today.

Do I need to be Vaccinated for Covid-19?

When you land at the airport a Visa can be purchased for 25 USD (cash only).

What is the activity level for this trip?

There is a good bit of walking in Egypt to see all the sights. I would say “moderately fit” to do all the things & see all the sights. You should definitely pack a good set of walking shoes and be prepared to go about 10k steps a day at least. Some areas are hilly, some areas have rocks. Its not “advanced” but you definitely should be ok with walking a bunch!
