Every time we host this trip, it’s one of our most popular adventures, and it’s not hard to see why – From Camels and Pyramids to Sailing down the Nile River. Rachel has added so many extra things to this itinerary to make it one of the best trips ever that you’ll go home and talk everyone’s ears off about so much they’ll either be tired of hearing about Egypt or you’ll be convincing people to go to Egypt themselves! (Just like she does every time she posts about it!)

*The Day we’re on the felucca, there are no single rooms, its 1 large felucca sail boat for the entire group.

Overview

From Cairo to Luxor to Aswan – we’re going on an adventure in Egypt! This trip to Egypt is fully guided by an amazing local tour leader that makes sure we navigate all the local markets & cities with ease, making it a relaxing adventurous trip for everyone  Everything included is listed on the Inclusions tab. All accommodations are included as well – so rest assured that everything will be designed specifically for our group and full of comforts to make your trip fun but relaxing. Air-conditioned vehicles are used throughout the trip.The felucca sailing trip is one of the favorite days for most people that experience it!

Day 01 :
Day 1

Welcome to Egypt, get ready for an amazing week!

Settle into the hotel then get ready for your first experience in Egypt! Tonight we’ll head out to explore a local famous bazaar & have a group dinner to celebrate a fun week ahead.

3 airport transfers will be provided between 9am and 4pm today. The earlier you arrive the more you can do today. There are several extra things in Cairo we can recommend and plan as a group!

Day 02 :
Day 2

Raise and shine, it’s time to get up early and have breakfast before heading out in Cairo for your first set of adventures!

Today we’ll visit the Saqqara Complex & Pyramid of Djoser then the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid. These areas are home to some of the first pyramids ever built! Plus some unique areas where you wont find nearly as many visitors Its a fantastic way to start your trip; taking a jump in time to the first great wonders of the world!

Day 03 :
Day 3

Today, after breakfast, we will begin our fun week by visiting the Great Pyramid Complex and The Sphinx!

Pictures cannot do these places justice! But make sure you bring your cameras for some epic shots! After visiting the Pyramids close up we’ll hop on a camel and take a camel ride at the Pyramids!

In the afternoon incredible local guide will then walk us around the Egyptian Museum, home to an incredible collection of antiquities, a perfect introduction to the history of this land. Please ask as many questions as you would like, our guide would love to hear your interest in all things historical.

Then tonight we’ll hop on the overnight sleeper train to Aswan! After freshening up at the hotel, you will head down to board the train. Feel free to bring some snacks for the journey, and get a good night’s sleep onboard – although, wouldn’t it be something to see a sunrise onboard a moving train?

Day 04 :
Day 4

Today you will experience the Nile, and see the beauty that Aswan holds.

Once the train arrives you will have some time today to explore the city and experience whatever you would like to do. There are lots of options we can choose from today from visiting Philae temple to the famous perfumery shops in Aswan or the night markets or you can relax at the pool if you prefer! We can discuss this the day beforehand!

Tonight, you will experience a traditional Nubian meal, visiting a local village to experience the culture first-hand. We will meet with a local family who will create you a meal you won’t forget, and together we will learn what it is like to live the life of a local person.

Optional: Philae Temple Visit – once underwater this temple was moved onto an Island and is one of the highlights of Aswan!

Day 05 :
Day 5

Today is a free day! Time to explore Aswan in whatever way you would like or join Rachel on a trip out to Abu Simbel!

Optional: Abu Simbel Tour – Join Rachel & Discover a part of Egypt that most first-time visitors miss! We’ll wake up early and go on a private day trip to the Abu Simbel temples. The two Temples of Abu Simbel, with their unique style, are considered to be the masterpieces of ancient Egypt. They reflect the glory and grandeur of the new Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO decided to co-operate in order to save these temples from the flood.

Day 06 :
Day 6

Relax at the hotel or by the pool this morning and get ready to board the felucca in the late morning. We’ll spend the afternoon sailing down the river, relaxing on our boat, watching rural Egyptian daily life, and spend the night under the stars. Delicious meals will be provided on board the boat by the crew. We’ll enjoy sunset on the Nile and then a bon fire on the shore at night – this part of the trip is a highlight for most people!

Day 07 :
Day 7

Rise & Shine – we’ll enjoy one more meal onboard our boat then leave our felucca on the Nile and head towards Luxor!

On our way we’ll stop at the stunning Esna Temple. Although Esna Temple is small its a stunning and colorful Temple plus its another place most people miss on their first trip to Egypt… but you wont!

Once in Luxor we’ll visit the open air museum Karnak Temple. This is one of the worlds most celebrated temple complexes. Karnak is a house of the gods built over a period of 200 years. Some of these piece you witness are over 2000 years ago!

Day 08 :
Day 8

Today we’ll head over to the west bank of Luxor and start at the Colossi of Memnon, two huge 17-M high statues towering over Luxors west bank. Afterwards we’ll head to Valley of the Kings. Buried under these hills are insanely richly decorated tombs we can explore! You may find yourself stuck just staring, trying to figure out how they are so intricately designed! This is certain to be a highlight of the trip. Discoveries are still being made this day in these tombs.

After walking through the tombs of Valley of the kings we’ll go a local house on the west bank and enjoy an amazing home cooked meal.

After lunch, you’ll jump onto a plane and head back to Cairo for a final group meal at one of the best restaurants in Cairo!

Optional: We can go on a hot air balloon at sunrise today! We’ll book this later so you have time to decide if you want to join us or not and booking later as a group gives us a better group discount!

Today is the last official day in Cairo!

Today there will be 3 transfers to the airport, so make sure you wake up nice and early, get a hearty breakfast, and bid ‘see ya soon’ to your new best friends !

Do I need to be Vaccinated for Covid-19?

Adventuring for life is no longer verifying covid-19 vaccination status as of January 1st, 2023.

Please always check local government requirements and those for your own country.

Is Travel Insurance required?

Travel Insurance is required for this trip. You can get a quote on aardy.com – our favorite is Travel Guard by AIG.

Can I pick my roommate?

Yep! You can pick your roommate, so sign up with a friend if you’d like!

We also do a full roommate survey before each trip for the majority of people that come solo!

Can I have a single room?

Yes, single rooms are available for this trip. When you sign up – make sure you add that to your booking before checking out.

What are the Visa Requirements?

When you land at the airport a Visa can be purchased for 25 USD (cash is easier then card).

What is the refund policy on this trip?

Once the trip is confirmed with 8 spots booked, the 25% deposit is non-refundable. Additional payments over the 25% are refundable until we are 60 days out from the trip.

At the 60 day mark all payments are due and the trip is 100% non-refundable.

If you need to cancel your spot prior to 60 days before the trip starts, there is a $100 cancelation fee and the remainder can be used on a future Adventuring for Life trip.

If you cancel 1-59 days prior to the trip, it is 100% non-refundable.

Travel Insurance is highly recommended, especially for ALL International Trips, to protect you in case you do have to cancel at any point.
