Welcome to the beautiful Nordic island of Iceland! You’ll begin your journey with a exciting trip through immigration and customs, and then you’ll meet with some of your new friends to get your transfers to the hotel in Reykjavik. Once you’re all settled in and freshened up, you’ll meet back up with your group and travel into the town for your first chance to experience some of the excellent food on offer in Iceland at your welcome dinner. We’ll end the night toasting to a fantastic journey ahead!
Included: Transfer to Hotel from Airport, Dinner
It’s your first full day in Iceland, so grab your camera and let’s get out there!
Today you’ll head out the door bright and early to get your trip started with an adventure to the ‘Golden Circle’ – the only place on Earth you can see the American and Eurasian tectonic plates pulling apart (at the pace of almost 2cm per year!). Those of you with eagle eyes may also be able to see the Silfra fissure out in the watery landscape, fit for any holiday postcard! Absolutely picturesque and fantastical. You’ll then head to Iceland’s Geysir geothermal area, where water can shoot 30meters into the air! Located in this area is one of the most famous waterfalls in the country, the Gullfoss Waterfall (Or Golden Falls), a must have picture in any traveler’s journal.
Once you’ve had your fill of the calming sounds of the water, you will continue onto the Hvolsvollur Valley, where you will spend the night. A perfectly isolated area, far away from the city lights, providing a perfect base for trying to see the dancing green rays of the Northern Lights.**
**Weather permitting.
Included: Breakfast
Off we go on another jam packed day of fun! Today you’ll travel along the south coast of the country, starting with a trip to the eerily beautiful Skógafoss waterfall. This is an absolutely gigantic waterfall, 25 meters wide and dropping all the way down 50 meters! You will be getting up close and personal, absorbing all the beautiful energy that radiates off of this landmark, before walking to find an absolutely mindblowing viewpoint to seek out some waterfall rainbows! Continuing along the south coast, you will get to see the stepping stones of Reynisdrangar, the promontory of Dyrhoaley, and the night black sea beach of Reynisfjara.
As the afternoon draws in, you will visit the famous Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, another unique and extraordinary area of sea, with floating icebergs whose blue contrasts with the dark charcoaled beaches surrounding. You will end your day at a local farm, once again searching for those beautiful Northern Lights** and taking in the natural beauty of Iceland.
This day will involve some walking and hiking, it is a simple path and completely worth it to take in every inch of this beautiful land!
**Weather permitting.
Included: Breakfast, Glacier Lagoon, Skogafoss Waterfall, Dyrholaey & Reynisfjara Rocks
Get those hiking boots on – We’re off on another walk! Today you’ll be walking on Europe’s largest ice cap! Vatnajokull has around 30 glaciers that flow out from it. This is a beautiful and heartbreaking journey as you see the effects of global warming, and you realize that in the coming years, the glaciers you’re looking at may no longer be around. This really could be a once in a lifetime experience to see, so bring a camera and embrace mother nature.
As the day moves on, you will go to the black sand seaside town of Vik, and sandwich yourself between the high cliffs and endless sea. You will then spend the night in Iceland’s most southerly mainland settlement.
** You will need ankle high shoes for this walk.
Included: Breakfast, Glacier Hike
Another day, another landmark! Today you will start the day off with the iconic Seljalandsfoss Waterfall – a popular choice for TV Shows and music videos alike! This view is like no other, and the gigantic waterfall will be a highlight to many people’s trips.
The journey will then continue by going on a tour through many volcanic lands and active areas. Many of the sites you see on this day will have been created by past volcanic eruptions, creating unique and one off lands. You will get to see the capital Reykjavik – somewhere that found its way onto many people’s televisions in recent years with a recent active volcano.
Included: Breakfast, Seljalandfoss Waterfall Visit
Time to unwind and relax in the Thermal Baths of Iceland – The Blue Lagoon located in front of the picturesque Mount Þorbjörn.
You’ll enjoy the morning soaking your muscles in the warm (99–102 °F), milky water, and rub your skin in the nourishing soft white mud at the bottom of the baths.
This is another experience unlike any other, and will help repair your mind and body as you relax in the naturally heated water. Close your eyes, take a deep breathe in, and bask in the unique landscape around you.
In the afternoon you will arrive back to the Capital of Iceland and explore the town, now is a great time to pick up any little trinkets you want to remember your time in Iceland, as it’s home time tomorrow!
In the evening, the group will join together again for a final farewell dinner and toast to a fun week of exploring the Land of Fire and Ice!
Included: Breakfast, Dinner, Blue Lagoon Visit
This isn’t goodbye, just see ya later!

Although its not required, its highly suggested to cover yourself with Travel Insurance for all international travel. This protects you & your purchase incase something happens before or during the trip that prohibits you from coming or staying through the whole trip. This trip does not include travel insurance & should be purchased separately. You can get several quotes from Aardy.com – Rachel’s personal favorite (from experience) is Travel Guard by AIG.
No flights are not included. People come from everywhere for this trip so we are unable to include international flights. Please read the itinerary carefully and book yourself onto flights that arrive and depart on appropriate dates from the right airport!
The majority of my community is in their 20s and 30s, there isn’t a “too old” age but 25-35 is typical. That doesn’t mean that being 39 or 43 should stop you from joining us. As long as you’re open minded to enjoying a trip with all ages, down to have A LOT of fun, and understand these are very active trips then you’re good!
Once the trip is confirmed with the minimum number of people (8), your 25% deposit is non-refundable, unless you find a replacement. Prior to that point, all money is refundable. 61 days prior to the trip – your spot is 100% non-refundable. If you (or Rachel) find a replacement for you then you receive your deposit back minus a $100 cancelation fee.If you have to cancel at the last minute due to sickness, Covid, Family Emergency, Etc – Travel Insurance is the only thing that can protect you in this case.
Rachel highly recommends checking out Travel Insurance quotes as they can be pretty reasonable and assist in these situations.
Yes. All trips outside the USA with RachelLikesTraveling & Adventuring for Life require vaccination due to the nature of international travel right now. It is important to look after the group you’re traveling with, and the people you may encounter in each country. We also highly recommend bringing tests to take during the trip.
This trip features a lot of adventuring in the great outdoors of Iceland! So you will need to have a good endurance for walking on awkward grounds and up steep hills. While it won’t be a completely active experience, if you want to get the best photos & see all the amazing views you’re going to want to go on all the hikes!
