There is A LOT of walking & hiking, especially in Petra & Wadi Rum. Most active people should have zero issues. You should be reasonably active & able to walk for periods of time on varying terrains. There is very little shade in both these locations so be sure you bring comfortable walking shoes & a hat. This isn’t a “high actively” level but to do all the activities and see all the sites you should be moderately healthy.
In October the weather can get warm during the day and very chilly at night. Be sure to bring clothing that you can layer, it can get quite cool in the desert in the fall time.
