I love taking photos on vacation. It’s apart of my vacation plan to find the best Instagram spots while I’m exploring a bee city or hiking spot. These are my top 10 Instagram Spots in Tulum Mexico. If you’re looking for things to do in Tulum instead of Insta-worthy photo spots, check out my 11 Must Do Things in Tulum.
My first piece of advice is to get up early. You probably already do this and you probably don’t need this advice but if you don’t let me tell you a secret. all of my pictures were taken before 8 AM. It allows me to take the most pictures with the least amount of people watching me awkwardly in the background. It also lets me take pictures without a bunch of people waiting on that same spot. So yeah I’m getting up at 6 AM putting make up on and pulling out some clothes to go take pictures but then the rest the day I have it to myself to do whatever I want.
I feel more confident when there’s less strangers watching. I can do multiple poses to find what works for me at different spots too.
So without further adu this is my list of the Top 10 Best Instagram Spots in Tulum!
1 | Ven A La Luz
The Ven A La Luz statue is one of the most popular Instagram spots in all of Tulum and number one on the list of the top 10 Instagram Spots in Tulum. The day you decide to go get pictures I highly recommend getting there before 8:00 AM and going to this one first. Cars do not stop for people taking pictures in the middle of the road and the best photos of this statue are from the middle of the road unfortunately. We passed this statue multiple times after 10:00 AM and there were 20 to 30 people in line waiting. Plus when you have last people watching you you feel little bit more confident with your photos. So go early and get the best picture.
2 | Follow that dream sign
The Follow that Dream sign is located right next to the lolita & lolita boutique. Just a little bit past Matcha Mama. We couldn’t get it to pull up on Apple Maps but Google Maps pulled up the boutique just fine. This is a great one to get to really early in the morning before all the shops open up and parking gets rough. You can also have someone takes pictures in the street and not have to worry about a ton of oncoming traffic. Remember cars do not stop for instagram photos!
3 | Large Tulum sign with swings
This is a newer spot in Tulum and one of the few that arent on the beach. As youre coming into Tulum on Highway 307 you’ll go past this large sign outside the Tulum Cerveceria. Its a great place to start your photo taking adventures and grab a cold beer. I try to go into establishments that have provided us with such iconic instagram spots in Tulum or whenever Im on vacation.
4 | Matcha mama
Not only are the photos cute here but the Acai bowls are SO delicious. I highly recommend making a stop here for breakfast when you’re out in the early morning scoring all those amazing Instagram photos in Tulum. It easily made my list of Must do Things in Tulum too.
5 | Tulum Ruins
The Tulum ruins were another really early stop for us for two reasons. We wanted to beat the crowds, the heat, and get the best possible Instagram photo. They opened at 9:00 AM and we parked our car at 8:15 and were in line before 9. It was really really warm that day and we’re glad that we did what we did in about 2 hours because when we were leaving there were hundreds of people walking towards us. I can only imagine how packed it was after we left and how busy the photos would be.
6 | Azu Lik
This entire hotel looks like it was built for Instagram photos. Whether it’s at a nest table, near the DJ booth on the center platform or in one of the many net area or walkway areas. The possibilities are endless here.
7 | Vagalume
This hotel has the iconic hands all over their property that you see on social media. This particular one is right out front of the hotel off the main beach road.
8 | At a cenote
This one’s kind of a given. I think everybody goes to cenote’s when they are in Mexico. If you weren’t planning on it then I highly recommend you going to at least one. We went to six different Cenotes in Mexico, some near to loom some out near chichen Itza. My favorites were absolutely the Ik Kil Cenote and Suyton Cenote which are about an hour to an hour and a half away from Tulum but you can find tons of really gorgeous to notice in Tulum. Dos Ojos, Grand and Calavera are all very popular.
9 | Ziggys OR Any Beach Club
I say Ziggys since thats where we went but any beach club really. Ziggys, Taboo, gitano are all travler favorites, day or night. Ziggys is a nice relaxing beach club with tons of points to take photos at and FREE PARKING which is hard to come by. It is more relaxed at Ziggys while Taboo is more a party atmosphere, so it depends what you’re looking for.
10 | The Swings
Last but not least one of my favorites and one of the best Instagram spots in Tulum is on the swings! You have to get an iconic Instagram swing photo. There are so many but my favorites were at Let’s Roll ice cream shop next to Matcha Mama on the beach. Extra credit if you run up the staircase and get the photo below.
Hope you have a fantastic time exploring Tulum and taking the best photos at the Top 10 Best Instagram spots in Tulum.
